Alt fuel news roundup: 9/20/12

This fall has really kicked off with a bang, as new alternative fuel fleets and events have filled the headlines. Here are a few of this week’s top stories:

  • The U.S. Department of Transportation has announced $59.3 million in funding to help transit agencies purchase and support cleaner vehicles.

  • Alliance AutoGas partner Charter Fuels is back in the news with another propane autogas conversion, this time for Tarmann Transport, a new medical paratransit service. Tarmann turned to autogas to help launch his new company, which serves elderly and disabled patients.

  • The Florida alternative fuel roadshow is currently underway.

  • An Illinois city fleet just received the go-ahead to convert vehicles to propane autogas.

  • A county in North Carolina is considering switching 10 fleet vehicles to autogas.

  • Audi has partnered with biofuel startup Joule Unlimited to test out their alternative fuel for the automotive industry.

  • Congressman Mike Rogers visited a Sheriff fleet in Alabama to get a firsthand look at their clean autogas cruisers.
