Our headlines this week kick off with a propane autogas fleet in Virginia that caught the attention of the White House:
- Nancy Sutley, Chair of the White House Council on Environmental Quality, visited Newport News yesterday to get a firsthand lookat the City’s clean propane autogas vehicles and other energy efficient facilities.

- An energy policy group is urging the federal government to allocate its $150 billion transport services budget to carriers that utilize domestically produced clean fuels like natural gas, biofuels, electricity and other gasoline alternatives.
- Icom North America has attained 17 new EPA certifications for its JTG II propane autogas bi-fuel systems. According to a company press release, “the new certifications cover approximately 200 2010-2012 General Motors Chevrolet- and GMC-brand light-duty trucks and SUV platforms with 4.8- and 5.3-liter engines.”
- Green Fleet magazine offers a recap of the Wisconsin Clean Cities “Propane in the Park” event that featured propane autogas trucks and mowers from Alliance AutoGas partner Charter Fuels.
- The Alabama Clean Fuels Coalition received a $9,975 grant from Gov. Robert Bentley to help educate the public about the benefits of alternative fuels like biodiesel, compressed natural gas and propane autogas. The coalition is hosting a workshop Aug. 22 in Montgomery with presentations about clean vehicle technology and demonstrations of alternative fuel vehicles.
- Yesterday, representatives from the nation’s automakers met with Oklahoma Governor Mary Fallin in Oklahoma City about a multistate request for proposal (headed up by Fallin and Colorado Governor John Hickenlooper) that calls on Detroit to mass produce affordable CNG vehicles for state automobile fleets.
