Propane autogas expos highlight affordable alt fuel

From coast to coast, several important alternative fuel events are taking place this week. Blue Star Gas, the flagship autogas fuel provider on the West Coast for Alliance AutoGas, will be represented by Darren Engle at the Pacific Propane Annual Convention & Expo, and also at an alternative fuel vehicles event held by the Rogue Valley Clean Cities Coalition.

“I look forward to discussing recent advances in autogas technology because it really is the most cost-effective clean fuel for U.S. fleets on the market, especially in terms of vehicle conversions and fueling infrastructure costs,” says Engle.

Last Friday, another Alliance AutoGas representative shared the benefits of propane autogas at a Propane Powered Vehicle Expo in Oakdale, Pa., hosted by the Pittsburgh Region Clean Cities. Rodney Johnson of Alliance AutoGas discussed the benefits of autogas technology, including details about the Alliance AutoGas alternative fuel conversion program, and Tim Hooker of Alliance conversion center partner Fyda Energy Solutions displayed autogas conversion technology.

“Like compressed natural gas, autogas is a domestically produced alternative fuel that’s cleaner and cheaper than gasoline,” said Johnson. “However, it’s much more affordable for many fleets to switch to autogas than CNG because vehicle conversions and fueling stations cost thousands less. One example of a major U.S. fleet choosing propane autogas is Veolia Transportation, which recently began converting 50 Pittsburgh taxis to autogas, in addition to hundreds more taxis in their fleets nationwide.”
