Join experts from Alliance AutoGas and the Southeast Propane Autogas Development Program as they share details on real fleets that are saving money and reducing emissions by running on propane autogas.

The September 20 webinar features Mark Denton of Alliance AutoGas, Jamison Walker of Virginia Clean Cities (which administers SPADP), and Captain Bart Humble of the Sandy Springs Police Department, which is converting more than 65 fleet vehicles to autogas.

Denton will discuss the key components of a successful autogas program, while Walker will share recent case studies from fleets that transitioned to propane autogas through the Program, with conversions and fueling from Alliance AutoGas.

Captain Bart Humble with the Sandy Springs Police Department will also talk about his experience switching his fleet to propane autogas and working with the Alliance AutoGas team. The Sandy Springs fleet is switching a total of 65 cruisers to autogas under the Program, and they just recently announced the purchase of 14 additional vehicles that will run on propane.

Alliance AutoGas partner Paraco Gas has more information about this upcoming webinar, which begins September 20 at 11:00 a.m. ET. Register here: http://autogasusa.org/resources/webinar-registration

It will be interesting to see how that affects the new technology manufactured by our nation’s automakers in the years to come! Here’s more alternative fuel and fleet industry news for your Thursday morning:

  • As we blogged about on Tuesday, the Sandy Springs, Ga., police fleet has saved thousands and displaced nearly 10 tons of greenhouse gas emissions after switching to propane autogas.

  • A recent survey of fleets found that half would consider natural gas-powered trucks, but that “90% are concerned about higher vehicle purchase prices.”

  • The governor of Wyoming presented a federal energy policy proposal to the public this week. According to the article, “the policy calls for state control of the energy industry to be prioritized, an increase in energy production and a reversal of several measures supported by the Obama administration, especially relating to fossil fuels.”

  • As Hurricane Isaac wreaks havoc on the Gulf Coast, gasoline prices jumped five cents yesterday to $3.80, “the highest ever for this date.”

PERC Travels the Country Educating Fleets about Autogas http://www.autogasfleet.com/2011/01/perc-travels-the-country-educating-fleets-about-autogas/ http://www.autogasfleet.com/2011/01/perc-travels-the-country-educating-fleets-about-autogas/#comments Wed, 19 Jan 2011 17:30:56 +0000 http://autogasfleet.com/?p=269 Continue reading ]]> Thanks to a $1.6 million grant from the Department of Energy, the Propane Education & Research Council and other members of the Alternative Fuels Trade Alliance have been touring the country since last year, educating fleet managers and other industry leaders on alternative fuels including autogas.

“This is the year to go green for American fleet managers. By bringing together four alternative fuel industries, we can train fleet managers on available options and how alternative fuels can meet their needs,” says Brian Feehan, vice president of PERC.

A great feature of the workshops is the chance for fleet managers to actually drive the alternative-fueled vehicles. Through such “Ride and Drive” events, fleet managers can see how driving an alternative vehicle isn’t such a mystical experience after all.

The next workshop is scheduled for this Thursday, January 20th in Seattle, Wash. To find out when future workshops are scheduled, bookmark this page for future reference.

This workshop – located in Denver- was number 6 of 14, so there are plenty of chances to attend another and learn firsthand about propane AutoGas in the fleet industry.

To learn more about these workshops and see webcasts from previous cities visit the Alternative Fuel Trade Alliance website. Visit www.autogasusa.org to learn about PERC and its efforts to spread AutoGas.
