  • The Southeast Propane Autogas Development Program is holding a North Carolina Propane Autogas Roadshow in conjunction with Land-of-Sky Clean Vehicles Coalition at the Biltmore Estate today. Fleets from across the state are discovering the benefits of clean, affordable autogas technology firsthand.
  • A new report from the U.S. Energy Information Administration reveals there are currently around 10,000 alternative fuel stations in the U.S. The amount of propane autogas stations is second only to the number of electric charging stations across the country. And while more than half of all natural gas stations are private access only, over 90 percent of propane autogas fuel stations are publicly accessible.
  • Construction Equipment magazine explores why propane autogas is the most viable alternative to gasoline and diesel (hint: it’s affordable and available now!).
  • Commercial Carrier Journal examines the multiple alternative fuel choices for fleets on the market today that are giving diesel a run for its money, such as CNG, LNG and LPG (autogas).
  • Glynn County in Florida is considering switching to propane autogas-powered vehicles to combat high gasoline prices. Smart move, as autogas saves fleets thousands on fuel costs annually while ensuring clean air for the community!
  • Hall County, Georgia, is hosting an event called “Georgians Supporting Georgians for a Greener Community” next week to celebrate the Hall County school district for being the first in the state to run their bus fleet on propane autogas.

As always, follow @AllianceAutoGas for the latest news affecting your fleet.

Where to Find Alternative Fueling Stations http://www.autogasfleet.com/2012/02/where-to-find-alternative-fueling-stations/ http://www.autogasfleet.com/2012/02/where-to-find-alternative-fueling-stations/#comments Tue, 28 Feb 2012 13:00:39 +0000 http://autogasfleet.com/?p=527 Continue reading ]]> Let’s face it—one of the biggest obstacles to clean fuel adoption in America today is fueling station location. In other words, many fleet owners and managers may say to themselves, “I’d love to save money by switching my fleet to alternative fuel, but where will my drivers fill up?”

In some cases, alternative fuel stations can be installed at a fleet’s home base for easy refueling access. For example, the Alliance AutoGas complete program provides fleets with on-site autogas fuel stations at no upfront cost. This way, fleets can start saving on fuel costs right away, and they always have a place to fuel their propane vehicles.

For fleets that require longer driving ranges away from the home base, the U.S. Department of Energy has a great alternative fueling station locator tool that covers a range of fuels, such as biodiesel, CNG, electric, propane autogas and more. According to data available on the DOE site, there are nearly 13,000 alternative fueling stations currently in the U.S., including more than 2,600 autogas fueling stations (and growing) and 975 CNG stations.

For alt fuel vehicle drivers with smartphones, try the DOE’s mobile alternative fuel locator app to find fueling stations on the go. With these resources, and the constantly expanding network of alternative fueling stations nationwide, it’s more convenient than ever to refuel your clean fleet vehicles.
